Blanche Levy Markowitz, formerly of Kingston and Liberty, NY, died Friday, April 11, 2008 at the Florida Medical Center. She was 84.
She was born in Kingston, NY on July 7, 1923, a daughter of the late Isaac and Minnie Levine Levy. She married Seymour Markowitz on September 28, 1946.
Mrs. Markowitz worked as a bookkeeper for Jonathan Logan Dress Co., Kingston, NY from 1943-1952. She was a former member of Congregation Agudas Achim, Kingston.
She moved to Liberty and worked at a private accounting company in Liberty during the early 1960's. Mrs. Markowitz belonged to Ahavath Israel, Liberty and was a member of the Sullivan County Golf and Country Club. She was active in the Women's Tuesday League.
She has been a Florida resident for the past 22 years.
One sister Dorothy Black and one nephew Robert Black preceded her in death.
Surviving are her husband of 61 years, Seymour Markowitz; one daughter Beth Markowitz Gordon and her husband Warren of Ridgewood, NJ; two grandchildren Zachary Ryan Gordon of Jersey City, NJ; Ally Joanna Gordon of Ridgewood, NJ; and one niece Marilyn Black Harvey of Schedectady, NY.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Simpson - Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave. on Tuesday at 12:30 PM. Rabbi Yitzchok Hecht will officiate. Interment will be in Montrepose Cemetery.
