Anthony J. Alecca Jr.

Anthony “Junior” Alecca Jr., 72, of East Kingston died December 22, 2003 at Northern Dutchess Hospital. He was born in Kingston on July 31, 1931, a son of the late Anthony J. and Mary R. Perry Alecca Sr. Mr. Alecca served from 1948 – 1950 in the US Coast Guard. For 50 years Mr. Alecca worked for Teamsters Local #445, Newburgh and previously served as president. He was also president of the Teamsters Retirees. A parishioner of St. Colman’s Church, he was past president of the East Kingston Volunteer Fire Department and a member of the Town of Ulster Lions Club. Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Margaret “Peggy” Alecca; loving father of Jeanmarie Watzka, Joseph A. Alecca Sr and his wife Barbara, and Jacqueline Bigando and her husband Jeff; brother of Frances Riccio, Joan Whittaker, Carmella Kelderhouse, Michael Alecca and the late Rose Polcastro and John Alecca; grandfather of Matthew, Jesse and Taylor Watzka, Joseph and Lauren Alecca, Haley, Kyle and Carley Bigando. Many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews also survive. Reposing at Simpson – Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave. on Friday 2-4 and 7-9:30 PM. The funeral will be Saturday at 9:15 AM from the funeral home. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Colman’s Church at 10:00 AM. Interment in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
