Arlene Orr

Arlene (Schoonmaker) Orr, 84, of Kingston, passed away Tuesday, September 25, 2012 at Kingston Hospital. She was born August 28, 1928 in Kingston to the late Moses and Jeannette (Gorsline) Schoonmaker.




She was married to Bernard Orr who passed away on August 5th 1993.




Arlene worked as a nurse's aide at Kingston Hospital and at Pride Cleaners in Kingston.




She was a Life Member and past president of Joyce Sherrick Post #1386 VFW Ladies Auxiliary and was a member of the Old Dutch Church in Kingston where she was very active and coordinated the living nativity for many years.




Arlene is survived by her children, Karen Van Kleeck and her husband Wayne of Boiceville, Bernard Orr Jr. and his wife Conny of WA, Jennifer Potter and her husband William of North Carolina, James Orr and his companion Alberta Baron of Kingston and Timothy Orr of Kingston, 12 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, as well as several nieces and nephews.




In addition to her husband and parents she is predeceased by her siblings, Hilda Wells, Dorothy Laratonda, Jeannette Nagy, Laura Palen, Shirley Uhl, Morgan Schoonmaker, and her great granddaughter Samantha Eve Scism.




Entrusted to the care of Luke Keyser of A. Carr & Son Funeral Home, 65 Lucas Ave, Kingston, where friends may call on Friday from 10 to 11am. The funeral service will be at 11am, with Rev. Kenneth Walsh, officiating.




Burial will follow in Wiltwyck Cemetery, Kingston.




In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Old Dutch Church, 272 Wall Street, Kingston, NY 12401
